Established in April 2000, Highland Bikes has become the Highlands favourite bike shop. Our desire to stock the latest products, have the best workshop have and offer the highest level of customer service has given us large and loyal customer base but, we’ve only managed to achieve this thanks to having the best staff.

We are now opening a new store in Elgin, and we need enthusiastic and dynamic team members to bring the Highland Bikes experience to Moray.

We have openings for a Sales Assistant and Bicycle Mechanic

SALES ASSISTANT

Applicants must have an interest in cycling and have a basic knowledge of bicycles. You must also have a patient and helpful attitude and understand the importance of customer service.

Applicants will be required to:

  • Assist and advise customers with all manner of enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Process sales and orders using computer based electronic till system.
  • Manage stock including receiving deliveries, merchandising store and stock taking.
  • Manage customer orders including preparing Click + Collect orders.
  • Keeping store clean and tidy.
  • Liaising with suppliers.
  • Keep up to date with latest product and technologies and enrol in Shimano Service Centre Tech continuous learning program.
  • Be a team player.
  • Be willing to offer support to the workshop in busy periods.
  • Be available to work Saturdays.

Previous experience is not essential but may be an advantage.

This is a full-time position.

Store is open from Monday to Saturdays and closed Sundays.

28 days holidays per year including Bank Holidays.

Being a modern retailer with a busy online presence to compliment our bricks and mortar store, skills such as photography, blog writing, social media skills, computing, art and design would also be desirable.

The Workshop at Highland Bikes strives to offer customers excellent service with professional and sensible advice and assistance to help them get the best from their bike. It’s not uncommon to hear ‘Sorry but we don’t do that!’ from many bicycle workshops but that is not the Highland Bikes way. We’re a bicycle workshop so we fix bikes, it that simple, so there is not much that we will shy away from.

  • We are a Shimano Service Centre and a SRAM Platinum Dealer.
  • We work with with Campagnolo, Rolhoff, Sturmey Archer, Enviolo, Mavic, DT Swiss, Electronic gear systems – Di2 and eTap.
  • Ebike Service Centre for Shimano, Bosch, Giant Yamaha and Sportdrive
  • Fox and Rock Shox suspension

CYCLE MECHANIC

Applicants must have an interest in cycling. You must also have a patient and helpful attitude and understand the importance of customer service.

Applicants will be required to:

  • Be self motivated, organised and pride themselves on producing work to a high standard
  • Manage and organise repairs and servicing using the computer based diary system
  • Carry our repairs and servicing to all types of bicycles to a high standard
  • To assemble and prepare new bicycles to PBSR/BS6102 safety standard. (M Check)
  • Assist and advise customers with all manner of enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Process sales and orders using computer based electronic till system.
  • Liaise with customers regarding repairs and clearly explain what work is to be/has been carried out.
  • Work safely and keep work area clean and tidy.
  • Work to deadlines
  • Liaise with suppliers
  • Keep up to date with latest product and technologies and enrol in Shimano Service Centre Tech continuous learning program
  • Be a team player
  • Be available to work Saturdays
  • Support sales staff in busier periods.

Cytech level 2 or 3 would be preferred but consideration will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a good working knowledge of bicycle maintenance and repair.
